Welcome
to b-Noses , which was formed by Jim and Dianne Walker January
2006 and has the three core activities listed above.
The name "b-Noses" is meant
to emphasize our focus on biological
olfaction. In terms of
human
olfaction, our work is limited to consulting. Expertise
in this area is based on research that Jim Walker has conducted over
the past 20 years in two general areas:
1) quantifying
perceptual and physiological responses to brief nasal exposures to
precisely controlled odorant/irritant stimuli
2) measuring a
wide variety of responses/impacts of humans to whole-body exposures
with airborne chemicals in an environmental chamber setting
In
the animal area, we offer consulting and will also be pursuing basic and
applied research questions in canine olfaction. Much of the
applied research on canine olfaction will be concerned with disease
detection and will involve integration of chemical measurements
with canine olfactory testing.
Dr. Jim Walker, b-Noses's President, has recently been appointed to a 2-year term
on the Editorial Board of the journal "Inhalation Toxicology"
